On June 7th, Li Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Premier of the State Council, conducted a field research at Dalian Rongke Energy Storage Technology Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Dalian Rongke Energy Storage"). Premier Li Qiang gave full affirmation to the advantages of vanadium redox flow batteries in terms of high safety, long lifespan, and resource friendliness, and hoped that vanadium redox flow battery energy storage would play a positive role in promoting the national energy transformation and building a new power system based on new energy sources.
At the comprehensive R&D center of Dalian Rongke Energy Storage, Premier Li Qiang inquired in detail about the company's R&D, production, and sales situations, encouraging Dalian Rongke Energy Storage to continue to cultivate its expertise, actively develop high-quality products for more application scenarios. Chairman Liu Yanhui gave a detailed report on Dalian Rongke Energy Storage's technological innovation in vanadium redox flow batteries, transformation of achievements and commercial applications, and the independent development of its core supply chain.
During the investigation, Premier Li Qiang paid close attention to the technological innovation and product development progress of vanadium redox flow batteries. Upon hearing that Dalian Rongke Energy Storage had reached the internationally leading level and fully participated in domestic and international standard setting, he said with satisfaction: "This is truly eye-opening. In the future, we must also work on improving battery energy density, reducing product size and cost, and continuously making efforts in the fields of large-scale energy storage and household energy consumption to promote the multi-scenario application of vanadium batteries."
With the continuous increase in the penetration rate of new energy sources, energy storage has become an indispensable key link in the power system. Premier Li Qiang stated: "China's new energy development is already at the forefront of the world, and the development speed is very fast, but it also poses a great challenge to the stability of the power grid system. Vanadium batteries, as a new energy storage technology, should use their safety, long lifespan, and environmental protection characteristics to blaze a new trail, which is of great significance to energy transformation."
In 2022, the world's largest 100MW/400MWh vanadium redox flow battery energy storage power station, constructed by Dalian Rongke Energy Storage, was connected to the grid, marking a new stage in the commercial application of vanadium redox flow batteries and fully verifying the role of vanadium redox flow batteries in providing peak regulation for the power grid, ensuring the consumption of new energy sources, and ensuring the safety of urban power supply. Premier Li Qiang encouraged Dalian Rongke Energy Storage to continue to improve technological innovation, continuously promote the multi-scenario application of vanadium redox flow batteries, establish vanadium redox flow battery energy storage power stations in many cities across the country, discover and solve problems in continuous application, improve the overall technological advancement and reliability, take on responsibilities and innovate in the new era, strive to create new achievements in promoting high-quality development, and make new contributions to the revitalization of Northeast China.
